Volunteer Program Mission Statement

The Metropolitan Park District of the Toledo Area is dedicated to providing an excellent volunteer program that encourages and promotes meaningful community participation in Metroparks activities, utilizes the diverse talents of volunteers to expand the Metroparks' resources, and educates the citizens of our region about the importance of preserving our natural, historical, and cultural resources.

Be a Metroparks Volunteer

Whatever your interest or amount of time you have to devote, there is a place for you as a Metroparks Volunteer. Time commitments vary depending on your chosen area; some positions require a regular schedule, others are flexible, even seasonal.

No previous experience is needed. The Metroparks staff provides volunteer training sessions as necessary.

Click the links at left to learn more about a particular volunteer group or interest, or browse the Volunteers in Action newsletter.

As a Metroparks volunteer you are eligible to participate in the program “MetroSparks”, an idea generation program that fully engages employees and volunteer in the process of continuous improvement throughout the organization by utilizing a simple, responsive, and flexible system.
