Guide to Metroparks
Relax on a park bench overlooking the mighty Maumee. Hike up the side of a sand dune in the shade of towering oak trees. Board a canal boat for a journey into the past. Family picnics, educational programs and quiet walks alone in the woods are all part of the Metroparks experience .
Metroparks of the Toledo Area preserves natural, historical and cultural parklands in Lucas County. Eleven scenic parks and two recreational trails provide access and interpretation in northwest Ohio’s premier natural areas: the Oak Openings Region, the Great Black Swamp and the Maumee River, Ottawa River and Swan Creek corridors. Additional parkland is being acquired for future corridors and park development.
Each of the Metroparks offers ample picnic areas, playfields, trails for hiking and cross-country skiing, interpretive information and natural beauty. Each also offers something that makes it unique.
Dozens of free or low-cost programs each month for people of all ages, special events and volunteer opportunities are reasons to visit the parks often.
