Metroparks receives income from a 0.3 mill, 10 year property tax appoved in 2002 by Lucas County voters for the exclusive purpose of purchasing additional property. Since then, the park district has added more than 3,500 acres of natural areas for future parkland and connecting corridors. Today, the park district preserves just over 11,000 acres.
