Metroparks are excellent places to view birds and other wildlife. Oak Openings Preserve and Side Cut Metroparks have both been named Audubon Important Bird Areas. Oak Openings, Ohio's most unique natural area, is considered among the best bird watching spots in the entire state.
Four Metroparks along the Maumee River are excellent places to view migrating songbirds, raptors and water-loving birds. Pearson, Swan Creek and Wildwood Preserve are excellent urban birding locations.
Deer, squirrels, chipmunks, coyotes, foxes, raccoons, frogs, snakes, turtles -- even badgers -- all make their homes in the Metrparks.
Windows on Wildlife
Wildlife feedings stations with indoor viewing areas, called Windows on Widlife is available in six Metroparks. Stop in to warm up or cool down and enjoy watching a variety of birds and other wildlife visit the feeding stations. Windows on Wildlife are located at the following Metroparks.
